34 passengers, high school students and their chaperons in route to Pennsylvania, were injured Saturday night when the chapter bus they were on struck an overpass. The bus was on its way back from Harvard University, carrying 42 people when the incident occurred. According to the Boston Fire Dept. twitter feed, the chapter bus struck the overpass on Soldiers Field Road sometime around 7:30 p.m Saturday evening.
34 people were hurt, according to Boston Emergency Medical Services, one with life threatening injuries, three in serious condition.
Authorities indicate that the bus did not belong on that road, the driver having failed to heed posted height restrictions. The driver was not injured in the crash and is being interviewed by police to determine if he will face more serious charges.
